Head Lice
-
In order to control the highly contagious problem of lice in the school setting, the County Health Department has recommended a “no nit” policy for Marshall County school children. The Marshall County School System is enforcing this policy. This means that any school child that has lice must be treated with an appropriate lice shampoo and ALL nits removed from the hair before the child can return to school. The child will not be allowed on the school bus until the driver has been given the all clear from the office. The parents/guardians must bring the child to school and wait until the child is checked to see if he/she is free of nits.
The only day that will be considered excused due to lice or nits is the day your child is sent home. If it is on a Friday, he/she must be back on Monday. If the child is sent home on a Monday, he/she must be treated that same day and return to school the next morning or that absence will remain unexcused and the school will consider him/ her truant and appropriate action will be taken.
