Dr. Cindy L. Wigley

Dr. Cindy L. Wigley has served as superintendent of Marshall County Schools since January 2015.  The Marshall County School System has four districts: Brindlee Mountain, D.A.R., Douglas, and Asbury.  The system serves approximately 6,000 students, 14 schools, and 86 bus routes. Wigley is proud to lead the system of her hometown.

 

Wigley is serving her third term as Superintendent of Marshall County Schools.  She graduated from Auburn University and earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama.  Wigley began her career in Marshall County Schools as a Career Technical Education teacher, in the area of Early Childhood Education.  Next, serving as Assistant Principal and Program Director and then CTE Director/Principal before leading the district as Superintendent. 

 

Wigley has been active in local and state organizations.  She served as the 2021 SSA District 9 President, CLAS Board Member, SSA Board Member, Albertville Rotary, SSA/AASB National Dual Enrollment Committee, and Marshall County Workforce Development Task Team Co-Chair.

 

In addition, Wigley has been recognized as the 2019 SSA Superintendent of the Year- D9, 2021 Alabama State Dept. of Ed. Marbury Technology Innovation Superintendent Award Recipient, Greater Etowah Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Public Service Award recipient, and most recently, completed the National Superintendent Certification Program.
